A Retail Sales Executive represents the public face of a retail store. Customers rely on retail sales executive to assist them in selecting an appropriate product. A retail sales associate is relied on by their employer in keeping the shelves stocked and maintaining the cleanliness of the sales floor.
Also they recommends, describes and demonstrates products to customers; thereby helping them buy the appropriate products that they need. A retail sales executive is expected to ring up transactions on a cash register; this requires the ability to use credit card machines, calculators and barcode scanners. Responsibilities of Retail Sales Executive.
- Serves customers by helping them select products.
- Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge.
- Greets and receives customers in a welcoming manner.
- Responds to customers’ questions.
- Directs customers by escorting them to racks and counters.
- Provides outstanding customer service.
- Documents sales by creating or updating customer profile records.
- Manages financial transactions.
- Processes payments by totaling purchases, processing checks, cash, and store or other credit and debit cards.
- Alerts management of potential security issues.
- Assists with inventory, including receiving and stocking merchandise.
- Keeps clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest.

- Should have a confident manner.
- Must be helpful and polite.
- Assistants should be physically fit as they will be on their feet for most of the day and may be required to lift large amounts of stock.
- You should have a comprehensive understanding of your area of sales i.e. retail, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, etc.
- Able to work as part of a sales team.
- Knowledge of inventory techniques.
- Should be of a smart appearance and articulate.
